Wales, the Carpenters Arms has been in the same family for generations. The
three hundred year old pub is now run by Vera Watkins, who was born there and
has been the landlady since taking over from her mother thirty five years ago.
A warm welcome is extended to customers from Vera, her family and staff. The
pub remains as it was over a century ago, with a cosy bar which is well stocked
with a selection of real ales and an extensive choice of local ciders from both
sides of the border. The area is popular with holiday makers and so families,
cyclists and walkers are all equally made to feel at home. The pub also attracts
many people from the area, who return time and time again to sample the home
made cooking and to enjoy a fireside chat with Vera.
